On 14th and 15th of April 2026, EWF will take part in the EFFRA General Assembly & Annual Event, taking place in Brussels, Belgium. Organised by the European Factories of the Future Research Association (EFFRA), the two-day event will bring together representatives from industry, research and policy to discuss key priorities for the future of European manufacturing.

The programme will focus on the main questions currently facing European manufacturing, from the need to strengthen industrial capacity to the role of skills, innovation and collaboration in supporting long-term competitiveness. Across the two days, the event will provide a space to reflect on how Europe can build a stronger and more responsive manufacturing ecosystem.

EWF will be represented by its Deputy Director, Prof. Dr. Eurico Assunção, who will contribute to the panel discussion under Working Group 3: Human-Centric Manufacturing: Tools, Skills and AI. The session will explore how manufacturing can respond to industrial transformation in the age of Artificial Intelligence, with particular attention to the role of skills, tools and human-centred approaches. EWF’s contribution to this discussion is closely aligned with its work in supporting skills development and qualification approaches for a stronger European manufacturing sector.

The second day of the event will be dedicated to the formal EFFRA General Assembly and to forward-looking discussions on the future of manufacturing in Europe. Alongside governance and membership matters, participants will explore EFFRA’s roadmap for the next EU framework programme, the continuation of the Made in Europe Partnership and the links between European and national manufacturing initiatives. These discussions are expected to provide an important perspective on the direction of Europe’s manufacturing agenda in the coming years.
