EWF is proud to be part of AEROFUSE, a large-scale initiative funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme. Bringing together 26 partners from 12 countries, the project aims to address skills gaps in key areas of Europe’s aerospace sector

It focuses on three key subsectors not yet fully covered by previous skills alliances: satellite manufacturing, aircraft production and airport-related infrastructures, including maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).

As the aerospace industry evolves through green and digital transitions, the need for updated skills is becoming increasingly urgent. AEROFUSE addresses this challenge by bringing together industry leaders, education and training providers, and other relevant stakeholders to build a stronger and more future-ready workforce across Europe.

The project will achieve this by creating core curricula for both Higher Education (HE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET), while establishing a long-term plan to ensure its results sustain growth beyond its lifetime.

Within AEROFUSE, EWF plays an important role in linking European education frameworks with real industrial needs. Drawing on its experience in manufacturing and qualification systems, EWF helps ensure that the project’s results are practical, relevant, and aligned with European approaches to learning and certification.

Leveraging expertise from previous large-scale Blueprint projects like SAM, EWF contributes significantly to skills development, work-based learning and the analysis of current skills needs and emerging job profiles in advanced manufacturing. This also fosters synergy with the AILEEN project, which aims to create advanced manufacturing CoVEs for the aerospace and defence sectors.

Through AEROFUSE, EWF reinforces its commitment to strengthening skills, innovation, and sustainable competitiveness across Europe’s aerospace ecosystem.
