Workshop on Cyber Security & AI Tools

workshop_Cyber_AI

EWF has been actively positioning itself at the intersection of cutting-edge manufacturing, digitalization, training, and certification. In the projects AIRISE and CYRUS, EWF contributes to bridging the gap between innovation (AI, cybersecurity) and workforce development/qualification in manufacturing.

  • In AIRISE, the goal is to help European SMEs adopt AI in manufacturing, with a strong focus on sustainable, low-waste, resilient operations. The project supports up to 500 pilot cases, linking SMEs to expertise, digital innovation hubs, and “AI at the edge” solutions.
  • In CYRUS, the aim is to build a personalized, work-based training framework in cybersecurity tailored for industrial and transport sectors. The project addresses both technical skills and human / organizational behaviors to strengthen resilience against cyberattacks.

By organizing a Workshop on Cybersecurity & AI Tools on October 22 in Lisbon, EWF is leveraging its roles in these projects to connect topics that are becoming inseparable in modern manufacturing: AI-driven systems and cyber risks.

This workshop is not just a standalone event — it is aligned with EWF’s mission to enable harmonized qualification, support technology uptake, and promote use of new tools in the manufacturing domain.

Here’s what participants can expect:

Key Themes & Topics

  • AI applications in manufacturing

How AI, especially edge AI, is being used (or can be used) in smart manufacturing setups (quality control, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, process optimization).

This links directly to AIRISE’s focus on deploying AI in SME manufacturing contexts.

  • AI skills development for manufacturing professionals

What competencies (data literacy, algorithmic understanding, interpretability, domain knowledge) individuals in manufacturing need to safely and effectively adopt AI tools.

  • Cybersecurity: Crisis Mode

How to respond when a cyber incident hits; best practices for resilience, response, recovery. Also, how to structure cyber awareness, incident playbooks, cross-functional coordination (IT/OT), risk assessment.

  • Interplay of AI & Cybersecurity

How using AI increases attack surfaces, how adversarial AI might pose new threats, how cybersecurity constraints must shape AI deployment strategies.

Why Attend / Value for Participants:

  • Get exposure to real use cases where AI and cybersecurity intersect in manufacturing.
  • Learn from experts actively working in the field (not just theoretical).
  • Connect with EU projects and networks (AIRISE, CYRUS, EWF) that can provide follow-on support, pilot opportunities, training.
  • Benchmark your organization’s readiness (in AI or cyber) and gain ideas for next steps.
  • Influence project outcomes (feedback, use cases) by being part of the user/industry community.
