Join'EM - Innovative joining solutions available for manufacturers

The manufacturing systems engineering sector is aiming at better performing machine components; increased integration of functionalities provides a competitive advantage, and, in the transport sector, weight reduction is pursued. As a consequence, all industrial branches are continuously seeking innovative approaches in the fields of materials development, manufacturing systems engineering and processing technologies.

By allowing joining of copper to aluminium by electromagnetic fields, the project will provide increased performance, efficiency as well as environmental benefits to Europe’s industry. Developing innovative methods for joining dissimilar materials through consolidated knowledge was the core aim of JOIN’EM project.

The JOIN'EM project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme has developed working scenarios for this technology, providing a competitive edge to companies operating on the most sophisticated welding scenarios.

On August 30th, 2018 the project consortium gathered in Paris to assess the work developed so far and to showcase the achievements obtained throughout the project.
Fraunhofer IWU (Germany) will host at its facilities, the final project review meeting, on the 10th of October, where the complete review of the project will be made together with the Project Officer assigned by European Commission.
