WELDSPREAD – European Transfer Models for Welding Personnel Certification

The WELDSPREAD project, supported by the European Commission through the Leonardo da Vinci programme, aimed at supporting the promotion and implementation of the European Training, Qualification and Certification System in 5 countries on which it is already implemented – Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Slovakia, and in two new countries – Greece and Lithuania.

The specific objectives of this project were:

to have a harmonised and European Examination system allowing the assessment of the EWF training and qualification under common procedures and
rules;
to assure the quality and reliability of this Qualification/Examination/Certification system and thus reducing cultural and language gaps (the system
supporting documents will be translated in the languages of the participating end-users);
to harmonise EWF training Examination which can be implemented at a European level covering 29 European countries and that, through its links with the
IIW – International Welding Institute – will be implemented at an International level, from South America to Australia;
to assure the quality of and access to continuing vocational education and certification for life-long competences and better employability of welding
professionals, across national borders;
To promote the above-mentioned qualification/certification system at a wider European level, promoting a wider nr of qualified personnel;

The specific outcomes of the project were:

» Implementation of workshops to promote the system in Czech Republic, Romania, Greece and Lithuania;
» Dissemination activities aiming at promoting the implementation of the system in seven European countries;
» Seminars, conferences and exhibitions for transfer of knowledge to VET institutes and companies in Europe;
» Assessment of training objectives taking into consideration cultural and languages differences between the countries involved;
