The European Welding Federation (EWF) Courses' Guidelines cover all professional levels in welding technology and related areas, such as Thermal Spraying, Adhesive Bonding, Plastics Welding and Underwater Welding, leading to recognised qualifications in 31 European countries and also at international level.
The EWF system is recognised in Europe and abroad and its adoption outside Europe was established through a signed agreement between IIW - International Institute of Welding and EWF for the development of an international system based on the EWF Training Guidelines and Qualification procedures.
This Agreement defined that some EWF Guidelines would be adopted by IIW.
The following EWF Guidelines were integrated by the IIW:
 E/IWE – European/International Welding Engineer

 E/IWT – European/International Welding Technologist

 E/IWS - European/International Welding Specialist

 E/IWP - European/International Welding Practitioner

 E/IWIP - European/International Welding Inspection Personnel

 E/IW - European/International Welder
Training and Qualification for Welding Personnel
The EWF education, training and qualification system for Welding Personnel is recognised worldwide not only by training and accreditation bodies but by the industry itself. This EWF system is recognised by ISO, namely on the ISO 14731 – Welding Coordination – Tasks and Responsibilities, as a way for a Welding Coordinator to prove his technical knowledge in welding.
A detailed list of all guidelines that have been approved under the EWF Qualification System can be seen on Guidelines.
Attentive to the actual industry needs, EWF created the "Special Courses", much shorter than the traditional EWF courses and very specific for a certain welding area. These courses do not establish rigid access conditions and no EWF qualification is awarded, but a record of achievement is issued.
A detailed list of all special courses guidelines that have been approved under the EWF Qualification System can be seen on Guidelines of Special Courses.
