Online Examination database for Harmonised Training
As the EWF is aware of the importance of the mobility of labour within the Welding community, after the worldwide successful implementation of the harmonised Welding Qualification courses, thoughts were dedicated to the harmonisation of a standard examination system. This system would ensure that welding personnel trained in the EWF system is examined in a uniform way, so that those gaining a Diploma in any EWF Member will have achieved the same minimum standard.
To achieve the above mentioned goal, an Internet Database Software tool has been developed.
Nevertheless, the implementation of an harmonised Examination system based on an IT tool is not easy and it is far away from its complete implementation. As the aim is to assure the quality and equal recognition of competences at an European level, a new Leonardo da Vinci Project was submitted to the Lifelong Learning Programme (supported by the European Commission). The Project EURODATA – Online Examination Database for Harmonised Training aimed at supporting the implementation of an harmonised Examination system available online and focussing the assessment of welding related knowledge.
The Database Software enables several features, such as: the approval of questions by Teams of International Experts, the translation of the questions to the several Members mother languages, automatic generation of harmonised exams, sort out statistics regarding the questions used on the exams and automatic exams scoring after uploading students answers.
Examples of Database Software Screens are shown bellow, focusing questions, exams and users’ tools (see Figures 1 to 3).
