WELDICTION PLUS: Welding Multimedia Dictionary
This project is consequence of a previous Leonardo da Vinci project, finished in 2001, which main outcome was a multimedia dictionary covering the most relevant and commonly used welding related terms in the seven partners’ languages: English, French, German, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish.
After seven years, an update of this training tool and its enlargement to other languages is almost compulsory.
The project aims at transferring the training tool developed under the previous LdV project to new European organisations dealing with welding areas. This final product will be a step forward in the harmonisation of welding terms within Europe, allowing the users to achieve new linguistic skills in the welding field.
The development of the project will also improve the quality of cooperation among the partners’ organisations, all of them involved in the training and qualification of welding personnel.
The partnership, composed by 4 countries, is characterized by the involvement of organisations that cumulate experience and knowledge in the area of education and training of welding professionals.
VUZ, CWS, CESOL and ISQ are recognized as the welding institutes in their own countries; as so, they have the adequate expertise to update and upgrade the previous outcome. The opportunity of implementing this project will offer to each one of them the possibility of interchanging their specific experiences, establishing synergies according to this interchange and strengthening contacts for future collaborations.
EWF network, involving 29 European countries, will play an important role in promoting and disseminating the project throughout European organisations and enterprises with interest in this technical terminology.
The main outcomes of the project will be:
 Multimedia Welding Dictionary in electronic format in Slovakian, Czech and English;
 Project Webpage;
 Harmonisation of welding terms;
 Achievement of linguistic skills in the area of welding and joinning technologies
