WELDICTION PLUS – Welding Multimedia Dictionary
WELDICTION PLUS is based on a previous Leonardo da Vinci project, finished in 2001, whose main outcome was a multimedia dictionary covering the most relevant and commonly used welding related terms in the seven partners' languages: English, French, German, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish.
After seven years, an update of this training tool and its expansion to other languages was almost compulsory.
The project aimed at transferring the training tool developed under the previous Leonardo da Vinci project to new European organisations dealing with the welding sector. This final product is a step forward in the harmonisation of welding terms within Europe, allowing the users to achieve new linguistic skills in the welding field.
The development of the project has also improved the quality of cooperation among the partners’ organisations, all of them involved in the training and qualification of welding personnel.
The partnership, involving 4 countries, was made up of organisations that have both experience and knowledge in the area of education and training of welding professionals.
VUZ, CWS, CESOL and ISQ are recognized as the welding institutes in their own countries; as so, they have the adequate expertise to update and upgrade the previous outcome. The project has also contributed to a strengthening of contacts and an experience interchange that will be extremely helpful in future collaborations.
The project has concluded its activities in December of 2010. A new dictionary has been developed in line with the proposed goals defined at the outset of the activities.
Final evaluation is still underway by the Leonardo da Vinci Slovak National Agency.
The main outcomes of the project have been:
 Multimedia Welding Dictionary in electronic format in Slovak, Czech and English;
 Project Webpage;
 Harmonisation of welding terms;
 Achievement of linguistic skills in the area of welding and joining technologies
