B-PROF is a Grundvtig Multilateral Project, co-funded by the European Commission under the Lifelong Learning Programme and it is the first Grundtvig Project in which EWF has participated.

The project intends to introduce an alternative system of certification to allow workers with previously unrecognized welding competences and experience, to have these competences properly and officially recognized.



B-PROF will address specific problems:

The lack of an APL – Accreditation of Prior Learning system for welding that can satisfy current labour market needs;
Professionals working in welding technology often lack a minimum of academic studies to fulfill the requirements for professional certification as welders;
General lack of motivation for disadvantaged workers to certify themselves;

To overcome these difficulties, B-PROF will:

Develop an integrated, modular APL system to certify workers with confirmed experience as welders;
Promote higher employability for older workers who will benefit from this system;
Analyse the possibility of implementation of the new system on current EWF qualification and certification system;
Define the necessary steps towards adapting the new system to current EU qualification frameworks;
